Dembare threaten to boycott NetOne Charity Shield

Dynamos chairperson Kenny Mubaiwa said the Glamour Boys will not participate in this year's edition of the NetOne Charity Shield if they do not receive their prize money from last year.
The Glamour Boys are still to receive the $50 000 they won for beating Motor Action in last season's edition.
Last year, DeMbare had threatened to withdraw from the season-opening competition in solidarity with their sponsor, BancABC, who demanded that they be given the front space on the club's jerseys to display their logo.
Dynamos, who went on to win the trophy for the second year running, objected to wearing jerseys carrying the NetOne logo since it had serious repercussions on their relationship with BancABC.
BancABC threatened to withdraw their backing if Dynamos featured in the game with the kits presented by NetOne.
DeMbare officials snubbed the ceremony to present proceeds generated from last year's edition and they have vowed not to participate in this year's edition if they are not given their prize money.
"We were invited but we decided not to attend their function in protest of our prize money from last year's tournament," Mubaiwa told Daily News yesterday.
"We were given a dummy cheque and the trophy but they are still holding on to our money. If we don't get our $50 000 prize money then we will not participate in anything to do with NetOne.
"We played for $50 000 and we are not going to settle for anything less that. If we don't get our money in full then our position remains that we will not be participating in this year's Charity Shield."
NetOne announced a new format to this year's Charity Shield, in which four popular teams will be drawn to play in the semifinals.
