The deadline for the 2013 premiership soccer season player registration closed today (Monday) with high expectations that the new season that roars into life this Thursday will be full of excitement.
Three fixtures will ignite premiership action on Thursday to officially announce the championship title race for the 2013 season.
With the 25th of March being the deadline for all player registrations, PSL CEO, Kennedy Ndebele says clubs have complied and the issuance of players' licenses and final team lists will be finished by Wednesday before the first matches on Thursday.
"We are rolling on Thursday and as of today all the teams have complied and it will take us maybe by Wednesday to issue out all player licenses and teams lists before the Thursday matches," said Ndebele.
Following the centralisation of all player registration, the PSL chief also expressed optimism that the era of player ownership wrangles among local clubs will be a thing of the past.
'The centralisation system has indeed helped in curbing player wrangle and we are very grateful to ZIFA for that we also hope is going to allow for a smooth season though some contract wrangles will obviously appear here and there," he added.
All premiership teams are to register 25 players with 5 of them being under the age of 20.
For anxious Caps United fans, the wait is no more as a test of character awaits them this Thursday when they face Harare City in the season's first derby at Rufaro Stadium.
New boys, Triple B will start off on the road as they travel to Bulawayo for an encounter with fellow debutantes, How Mine at White City Stadium while Motor Action will host Hwange.
