Dembare draw again

Dynamos 0 - 0 Triangle
Dynamos goalkeeper George Chigova was shown a red card yesterday as the Harare giants' poor start in defence of their title continued when they stumbled to yet another disappointing draw in a dull Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match against newcomers Triangle at Rufaro.
DeMbare, who missed a couple of chances earlier on, remain winless in four starts following identical 1-1 draws in their opening three matches against Black Mambas, Chicken Inn and Shabanie Mine.
Pressure to start collecting maximum points is now building and it seems anxiety is taking over as a section of supporters was left demanding answers and blocking the team bus as it left the stadium after the match. Police reinforcements had to be called in to control the situation.
Dynamos coach Callisto Pasuwa yesterday admitted that collecting four points from a possible 12 is not the way they had hoped to begin the new season and attributed the slow start to their problematic strikeforce.
The script was not very different yesterday despite playing around with the team and giving newboy Allan Tavarwisa and Patrick Khumbula the responsibility to spearhead the attack while captains Murape Murape and Tawanda Muparati started from the bench.
DeMbare started the stronger of the two teams but they could not get clear cut chances with their first real shot on target coming in the 63rd minute when defender Gift Bello tried his luck in a crowded area as Triangle defended from a corner kick.
The visitors, who are playing in their maiden season, were determined to go back to the Lowveld with a point in the bag as they employed various tactics to frustrate the home side, including several reckless challenges that earned one of their players Richard Kawondera a red card while four others escaped with cautions.
Kawondera was sent off in the 56th minute after getting a second yellow card from referee Batsirai Muchenje for a rough tackle on Augustine Mbara.
Chigova was also given his marching orders in the 68th minute when he pushed Limited Chikafa in retaliation. Chigova reacted foolishly when confronting the former CAPS United winger who had rammed into him while chasing a high ball from a counter attack.
DeMbare had the better of the exchanges earlier on with the combination of Tavarwisa and Khumbula looking promising but their finishing was not up to scratch.
Khumbula could not keep his shot down in the 17th minute despite working hard to win the ball under difficult circumstances inside the penalty box.
Tavarwisa twice headed over the bar from deliveries sent into the box by leftback Augustine Mbara in the first half. DeMbare then fumbled another chance moments before the breather when Cliff Sekete's cross found no takers and then Tichaona Mabvura did well to keep the ball in play but Triangle cleared their lines.
DeMbare failed to use their numerical advantage when Kawondera was expelled in the 56th minute but soon they were level as Chogova was also dismissed for his unsportsmanlike behaviour. Earlier on, Kawondera had a good opportunity for Triangle before his expulsion when he found space in the DeMbare territory but his rising shot was tipped over the bar by an alert Chigova.
Chikafa could have done better in the 28th minute when he steered clear of Bello who had slipped in his own half but his shot was blocked by Partson Jaure who made a timely run to avert the danger.
New goalkeeper Artwell Mukandi almost gifted Triangle a goal in the 75th minute when he made a mess of his clearance which landed on the feet of Willard Gondo. However Bello made a swift intervention to block the ball out for corner. The defender was lucky not to pick up a yellow card moments into added time when he pulled back Daniel Kamunhenga as frustration got the better of the home team.
