THE refurbishment of Rufaro into a modern football stadium that meets world standards is expected to begin soon.
This follows an adverse report by Caf that condemned the state of the stadium, which is the main football ground being used in the country at present, in February.
Caf inspector, Matheus Joel Amadhila, condemned the stadium after a Champions League tie hosted by Dynamos. Caf recommended that the city architect should provide plans for the stadium's marketing and for the provision of a fax and e-mail facilities at the ground.
The city was ordered to install 1 500 bucket seats in the VIP and VVIP enclosure. The renovations will also include the installation of an all-weather electronic scoreboard and surveillance cameras. The artificial turf is supposed to be brushed off every eight hours after use. Goal posts would also be repainted.
"Council notes and makes good areas identified by the Caf inspector, Mr Matheus Joel Amadhila who inspected Rufaro Stadium in preparation for Dynamos Football Club's participation in the 2013 CAF Club Champions Competition," reads part of the council's adopted minutes.
