Harare City Chairman Leslie Gwindi has been formally charged by Zifa for dragging the name of the association and its stakeholders into disrepute.
Gwindi's charge comes following subversive statements criticising Zifa and Warriors coach as well as some sponsors and now faces a possible ban from football.
He was charged on Friday and is expected to appear before the Zifa Disciplinary Committee within the next two weeks.
The former PSL secretary was widely quoted in the media ranting at Zifa president Cuthbert Dube as an unable to lead Zimbabwean football. The outspoken Gwindi said is also accused of attacking the appointment of Warriors coach Klaus-Dieter's Pagels appointment as a "joke."
In this regard, he is charged with dragging the Germany government's name into ridicule since Pagels' appointment was facilitated on a bi-lateral arrangement between the Zimbabwean government and Germany.
Another charge is a scathing attack he made on PSL sponsors Delta Beverages through their Castle Lager brand that their sponsorship package is meagre and taking clubs for granted. Zifa is pinning Gwindi for scaring away the "hard-to-get sponsors."
Sources at the association said Gwindi would be banned from all football related activities.
"His days in football are numbers because we are coming hard on him. He has made reckless utterances and he cannot go unpunished."
While Zifa could fail to legally sanction Gwindi, it is the PSL sponsors charge that could pin him down according to the league's standing orders but does not guarantee a ban.
Some football analysts have interpreted Gwindi's charges as a way of getting rid of him from football after having publicly stated his dislike for Zifa president Cuthbert Dube and expressed interest in contesting him in next year's elections.
The controversial administrator has been banned from football twice before.
