LEGENDARY Zimbabwean footballer, Peter Ndlovu, says the home-based Warriors who face Malawi in an international friendly at Kamuzu Stadium this afternoon have a golden opportunity to stake a claim for inclusion in next competitive assignments.
The match kicks off at 2.30pm.
Local-based players always find it difficult to break into the national team in key assignments in which their foreign-based counterparts are available for selection.
But Ndlovu said today's match is a perfect platform not only for them to be considered for the remaining World Cup qualifiers but to prove that they are also worthy considering in the rebuilding exercise the team is undergoing.
"It is every player's dream to be in the national team and it is games such as this one in which they can book their places in the team for future competitive matches," said Ndlovu.
He also singled out diminutive Monomotapa midfielder Ronald Chitiyo for special mention saying he has a big Warriors future.
Stand-in coach Lloyd Mutasa, himself a firm believer in free-flowing football, will not alter the passing philosophy brought in by his boss Klaus-Dieter Pagels.
CAPS United midfielder Hardlife Zvirekwi looks set to slot in at right back with Dynamos' Ocean Mushure at home on the left back position.
Eric Chipeta and Chicken Inn's Felix Chindungwe will provide the cover in central defence, to Maxwell Nyamupanedengu who appeared to be winning the battle for the number one spot ahead of Highlanders' Munyaradzi Dhiya.
Skipper Masimba Mambare will lead from the left side of the midfield with Charles Sibanda on the right of Chitiyo who is a sure bet for a role in central midfield with no nonsense Devon Chafa's grit being employed for the holding role.
It appears Kuda Musharu and Tawanda Nyamandwe had done enough to convince the coaching staff to take the two strikers' positions.
Malawi got a boost following the arrival of the South Africa-based duo of defender Limbikani "Pupa" Mzava and Bidvest Wits striker Robin Ngalande.
They had missed their fight from Johannesburg to Malawi.
