20-year-old 'Clive Nguru' clinches golf tournament at Warren Hills

One of the youngest local golfing prospects, 20 year-old Clive Nguru on Sunday clinched the recently re-launched major "Champion of Champions Golf Tournament" at Warren Hills, beating a strong field of 79 champions from different clubs around the country.

Nguru triumphed after two rounds of golf.

The tournament teed off on Saturday and finished just after midday on Sunday and is now regarded as the biggest golf tournament on the local golf calendar after a four-year absence.

Zimbabwe Golf Association (ZGA) Senior Vice-President, Boniface Chigorimbo said the ZGA is excited with the return of the tournament and urged more youngsters to take up the game.

Warren Hills Golf Club captain, Charles Marikamani said they would like to make the tournament regional as part of efforts to groom future national champions.

The tournament gives club champions across the divisions from all golf clubs in the country a chance to battle for the title of champion of Zimbabwe.

Some of the champions who took part included Chapman's Clive Nguru, Wingate's Tich Musunga, Falcon's Biggie Chibvuri, Warren Hills' Stephen Hazangwi and Hwange's Stephen Simukai.
