CAPS UNITED are oozing with confidence ahead of their Mbada Diamonds Cup first round match against Motor Action at Sakubva Stadium this afternoon.
The Green Machine's assistant coach Saul Chaminuka makes a return to Sakubva Stadium, a place where he improved his coaching CV while presiding over Buffaloes.
Matches against Motor Action have proved to be tough for Caps in the last few years, but the Green Machine are confident that the Chaminuka factor will steer them to victory.
Chaminuka yesterday told NewsDay Sport that he was looking forward to a return to Sakubva where he has an above 80% success rate.
"We know that Motor Action are playing well once again after a bad start and we know that this is going to be a tough match," Chaminuka said.
"But we have all the confidence going into the match, I know everything about that stadium and I know that we will have a good support base that side. It's a good place to go and play football and I have fond memories during my time that side, I want to add more."
Caps welcome the return of winger Rahman Kutsanzira who missed their last match owing to illness, while defender Arnold Chivheya is available again after serving suspension.
Chaminuka warned that if Caps underrated their opponents who have put faith in youth, they could face an early exit.
"We have warned the players that they should not underestimate Motor Action, they have a youthful side, they got rid of some of their senior players, but it does not mean this is going to be easy. We have to put up our best performance if we are to progress."
Caps had a good run in this tournament last season, but fell to eventual winners Dynamos in the semi-final stage.
They will be looking to better that record this time on.
On the other hand, Motor Action, who played in the final of the inaugural edition in 2011, will be hoping for a lengthy run which would go a long way in improving their financial fortunes.
Their coach David George will have a point to prove after taking over from Joey Antipas who quit the club after a run of poor results.
