Dynamos Football Club is locked in negotiations with sponsors BancABC and expect to announce a new deal before the end of this month, club secretary Webster Chikengezha has said.
BancABC are Dynamos' principal sponsors who take care of salaries, transport and camping, among other expenses.
Their initial three-year contract signed at the beginning of the 2011 season, however, expires at the end of the current campaign and both camps have showed a willingness to have the marriage extended albeit with a few adjustments.
In an interview, Chikengezha confirmed negotiations were going on well and is confident a deal should be announced shortly.
"Yes, I can confirm we are negotiating with our sponsors with a view of renewing the deal that expires at the end of this year.
"In fact, the negotiations have been going on for a while and we are confident we will be able to conclude and put pen to paper before the end of this month," said Chikengezha.
Although Chikengezha would not be drawn into revealing details of the negotiations, a source close to the goings-on confided in The Sunday Mail Sport that the Zimbabwean League champions are holding out for a significantly improved deal.
"Dynamos feel they deserve much more, having sold the BancABC brand with distinction over the last three years in which they have won back-to-back league and the premier knockout tournament (Mbada Diamonds Cup) and are actually in the running for a hat trick.
"Unlike what was the case when the initial deal was signed, DeMbare are insisting that the bank should commit itself to doing more.
"The first step is the salaries should be upped from the current plus or minus US$500 to levels that can compete or even better what those at fellow premiership sides like FC Platinum are getting.
"The club also want the deal to have provisions that will allow for co-sponsorship under clearly defined parameters agreeable to all parties.
"The financial services institution should also consider sponsoring the juniors so that the current ill of quick fix contracts becomes a thing of the past", said the source.
Among their top priorities is an undertaking by the bank that it will send coaches on international coaching courses so that they can keep abreast with international trends and prepare adequately for the CAF Champions League.
The coming on board of BancABC has breathed a new lease of life to DeMbare, whose players were previously known for industrial action due to unpaid salaries and bonuses.
It has come as no surprise to see the Harare giants dominate over the past two seasons.
Both camps have so far refused to disclose how much Dynamos were getting per season but close sources say it is just over half a million dollars.
