Government has pledged financial assistance to the tune of US$88 000 towards the participation at the African Nations Championships in South Africa from the 11th of January.
The Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Andrew Langa, who hosted a luncheon for the Warriors, underlined governments support towards the Zimbabwe national soccer team's cause.
Langa, who was delighted with government's show of commitment, however underlined the need to ensure assistance for future national team assignments is offered well in advance and not on the eleventh hour.
"My ministry is committed to walking with the Warriors at all times," he said.
With the Warriors having spent the past few weeks preparing for the CHAN finals, Minister Langa applauded the dedication shown by the Warriors technical department as well as players that are in camp.
The Zimbabwean squad of locally-based players is expected to be trimmed down this week ahead of their departure for South Africa.
Zimbabwe, who are competing at the CHAN finals for the third time in a row, will be hoping to this time progress to the knockout phase of the tournament.
