Emerging Warriors star Kudakwashe Mahachi is happy to have distinguished himself at the African Nations Championship as his fine displays earned him a place among CHAN's All Star Team selected by a panel of CAF technocrats.
Mahachi says he is delighted to have produced such sterling displays that charmed spectators and analysts.
"I am happy to have played well in South Africa, but I think I just have to thank the technical team and the team as a whole that showed a spirit of togetherness which was important in our performances," he said.
For his exploits in South Africa, Mahachi also earned a contract with ABSA premiership giants Mamelodi Sundowns.
Meanwhile, a reception was held for the Warriors on Tuesday afternoon in Harare.
Guest of Honour, the Deputy Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Tabeth Kanengoni Malinga, applauded the Warriors for finishing fourth in South Africa and challenged the technical team to keep up the winning spirit in future international assignments.
She said, "I would want to congratulate the Warriors and the technical team for a job well done. CHAN was challenging despite being for locals only. From their performances in South Africa, the Warriors reaffirmed Zimbabwe's competitiveness in football."
She said her ministry is engaging corporates with the aim of ensuring players are paid their outstanding allowances and bonuses.
Head coach Ian Gorowa, who also received recognition for his tactical awareness, said the Warriors proved Zimbabwean football has a bright future.
