Out of favour Bidvest Wits University player and Former Zimbabwe national team central defender, Thomas Sweswe's future looks bleak as his hopes of finding a new home at Mpumalanga Black Aces recently failed.

Sweswe, who had previously vowed to end his playing career at The Clever Boys where he signed a new two-year contract six months ago, with an option of renewal, recently failed a fitness test at Amaziyoni.

"Aces had hoped to sign three players from Wits but Thomas Sweswe who had agreed terms, failed a fitness test and will not be signed," said a club official.

"We wanted him in our squad as he is a talented player, but we cannot do more as he failed to pass his fitness test. We wish him all the best in future endeavours."

Sweswe underwent surgery on his knee in October and was forced onto the side-lines. The tough Zimbabwean nomadic defender, back home starred for Highlanders, Dynamos, Caps, Sporting Lions, Mwana Africa, South Africa's side Manning Rangers before joining reigning ABSA Premiership champions, Kaizer Chiefs where he had a successful career spanning for three years.

Sweswe joined the Johannesburg-based side with countryman and former Chiefs teammate, Tinashe Nengomasha last season. Their arrival saw Wits break with the tradition of fighting relegation every second half of the season, to end in fourth position.
