New Dembare board chairman appointed

Bernard Marriot Lusengo is now the substantive chairman of the influential Dynamos board of directors, with the reshuffled board immediately backing under-fire coach Calisto Pasuwa.
In the new structure announced last night by Chris Kasiyazi, the DeMbare board secretary, Lusengo takes over from acting-chairman Freddy Mkwesha, who has been given the role of advisor to the board.
Mkwesha was appointed acting chairman after Richard Chiminya passed away in 2012.
Dynamos founding member, Shackie Chitimbe, now assumes the role of deputy-chairman while Owen Chandamale takes over as director of finance from Robson Rundaba.
Charles Gwatidzo, Norman Maziti, Lazarus Mangwenzi, Noel Musariyarwa, Freddy Muzuva, Rundaba and Sunday Chidzambwa come in as board members.
The club's executive committee led by chairman Kenny Mubaiwa remains unchanged.
These adjustments were made at the club's Annual General Meeting held in the capital two weeks ago but had been kept a closely guarded secret.
"Question have been asked of why are we are making these changes. Of course we want to fill the void left by Mr Chiminya," Kasiyazi said.
"We needed a substantive chairman, that's why we are making these changes and then secondly we wanted to re-energise the club.
"In any organisation you need to constantly re-organise yourselves. You need to change the batteries with time."
Turning to Pasuwa, Kasiyazi said the club still had confidence in the coach, who has led the team to three consecutive league titles.
Speculation was rife that there was a simmering boardroom wrangle at the Glamour Boys with some founding members pushing for Pasuwa's ouster after the club failed to reach the group stages of the African Champions League for a third year running.
The rumour mills went into overdrive at the weekend after Dynamos suffered an embarrassing 1-0 home loss at the hands of Castle Premiership debutants ZPC Kariba at the National Sports Stadium.
"This new leadership has been given an immediate task to ensure a unity of purpose in the Dynamos family," said Kasiyazi.
"We have heard a number of stories coming out that there is a faction in the board that is supporting the ouster of coach Pasuwa.
"The truth is that no such faction exists. What we do is we sit down and discuss and if there is any issue it is then put across.
"In terms of procedure we do not liaise direct with the coach and of course we do have a board member responsible of coaching but normally we speak with the executive and the executive in turn speak to the coach.
"As it stands if there are going to be any issues we have with the coach, the board will talk to the executive.
"I can safely tell you that on Friday we had a meeting a meeting with our executive where they were briefing us on their 2014 preview and there was never a time when we discussed the issue of the coach.
"Why? Because the season has just started and some people might say you were playing in the Champions League where things did not work out.
"But as a board we have never discussed about the coach. Some of the things we see in the media make us wonder where it is coming from at times."
