Caps United sprinkle opponent's bench with urine

THERE was something amateurish with the CAPS United players yesterday as they took their superstitions to another level by sprinkling the opponents' bench with urine in a goalless draw against Buffaloes during a Castle Lager Premiership soccer match at Gwanzura.
As this Easter Sunday match dragged to a stalemate, the Buffaloes coach and players were forced to sit on the ground after the hosts had soiled their seats with urine during half-time as our footballers sadly demonstrated their firm belief in supernatural things for them to win instead of applying themselves on the pitch.
Following a goalless first half in which the home team dominated but could not breach the defence of the visitors, the bucket seats of Buffaloes were treated with some not so holy water during the breather.
When Luke "Vahombe" Masomere and his charges returned, he and his technical team were forced to sit on the cooler boxes while the players had to sit on the ground.
It was more embarrassing, considering that the match was being televised live on SuperSport 9.
After the match the Mutare side's coach was not really fazed by the unfortunate incident as he was happy that his team had picked a vital point on the road against a team such as CAPS United.
"We played well in the second half unlike in the first half where our midfield was non-existent. We could have even scored two goals but we were much more defensive and not attacking.
"I am happy with the way we played against CAPS United who are a good side but couldn't utilise their chances in the first half while we also failed to utilise ours in the first half.
"It is unfortunate we failed to sit on the bench in the second half because CAPS United players Blessing Zabula and Hardlife Zvirekwi had poured urine on our bench and no one cleaned it for us to sit on the bench," Masomere said.
The draw saw Masomere maintaining his coaching dominance on the Green Machine coach Taurai Mangwiro who this week said he was mentored by the self-proclaimed "doctor of football" in his early days of his coaching career.
Mangwiro, however, is yet to beat his "teacher" whenever the teams they would be coaching meet.
