The Zimbabwe U-23 soccer team has set in motion their preparations for the All Africa Games qualifier showdown against South Africa after holding their first training session at Gwanzura Stadium this morning.

From the 28 players called into camp, 21 have reported for duty.

Highlanders goalkeeper, Ariel Sibanda and Liberty Chirava are among the players that were yet to report for camp.

Though there were 7 absentees in the Young Warriors first training session, team manager, Wellington Mpandare was optimistic that all the players would have reported for camp by the end of the day.

Despite facing arguably their toughest opposition in the qualifiers next weekend, Mpandare was in a buoyant mood especially with the presence of Ajax Cape Town's Tafadzwa Rusike and Kharma Billiart, who will for the first time feature for the Young Warriors in the qualifiers.

After negotiating their way past Botswana in the last round of qualifiers, the Young Warriors will be hoping to put themselves in a commanding position by overcoming Amagluglug in their own backyard next weekend.
