THE Zimbabwe Football Association has approached Zambia for a game in Harare on August 10, which is a FIFA international friendly match date.
According to SuperSport.com, ZIFA chief executive officer Jonathan Mashingaidze told them that they were expecting to tie up a deal next week for the friendly match. Zifa had lined up Zambia and South Africa but South Africa opted to play Burkina Faso on the same day, leaving Zambia's Chipolopolo as the only option.
Zimbabwe, who are third in their 2012 Africa Cup Group A qualifiers on five points and two points behind leaders Cape Verde, are looking for a warm-up game before hosting bottom-placed Liberia in their penultimate match on September 4.
Meanwhile, Foot Association of Zambia vice-president Boniface Mwamelo said only preliminary talks had been held with ZIFA and no deal had been sealed.
FAZ has struggled to organise a high-profile friendly match since playing 2010 World Cup finalists Chile in the runner-up to last year's tournament in South Africa.
