Army outfit Black Rhinos are ready to gore defending champions Dynamos when the two sides clash in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Rimuka Stadium in Kadoma on Sunday, club captain Bruce Homora has said.
The two sides are experiencing contrasting fortunes in this year's league campaign so far, with Dynamos among the league's high flyers, while Rhinos are in the relegation zone.
Dynamos are in third place, just a point off log leaders Highlanders, while Rhinos, who have lost half of the 16 league games they have played this season, are 13th.
However, Chauya Chipembere, who fell to a 2-1 defeat by Dynamos at the National Sports Stadium in the teams' first league clash of the season on July 6, are on a two-game winning run.
Rhinos beat How Mine 1-0 at Rimuka Stadium a week after the defeat to Dynamos, before another victory over Chikurupati by the same scoreline last week.
The successive wins have reivived Rhinos' hopes of surviving the chop and Homora is optistic they can continue the good run against DeMbare tomorrow.
"The morale is high in camp and the boys are geared up for the game," Homora told The Zimbabwe Mail.
"We don't fear them but we respect them as the reigning champions. We want to continue winning games because Rhinos is one of the biggest clubs in Zimbabwe. Rhinos' home is in the top flight league, among the big boys, and we will try our best to win the match and move up the table."
Meanwhile, Dynamos team manager Richard Chihoro is confident of a victory against the army side, though he believes Rhinos are a different proposition under new coach Jostein Mathuthu, who made a winning start to his tenure as Chauya Chipembere coach with a 1-0 victory at How Mine in Bulawayo last week.
"They are a dangerous team. They have a good coach and are highly motivated to perform because they want to impress their new boss. So we have to be prepared for a tough test," said Chihoro.
"But that will not stop us from going after our target, which is a win.
"We have essentially the same squad that featured in the Harare derby win last week, so we are aiming for another good result in Kadoma."
Meanwhile, in Bulawayo, table-topping Highlanders take on How Mine in a derby clash at Barbourfields Stadium tomorrow.
Highlanders will be seeking to maintain their lead at the top of the log standings, while How Mine, who are on a four-game losing streak, will be aiming to upset their city rivals and revive their own title hopes.
