Zimbabwean players in SA permits limbo

SOME of Zimbabwe's players plying their trade in South Africa's Absa Premier Soccer League have been hit hard by the new immigration laws which stipulate that all Zimbabwean and other foreign players must apply for their permits at South African Embassies in their respective countries.
This has affected both players and the PSL clubs as the league started yesterday. Now they have to play without their best signings due to this law implemented this year.
Koketso Gaofetoge, media liaison of SuperSport United told Chronicle Sport on Thursday evening: "George Chigova is doing well, he even played in the team's friendly match against Bloemfontein Celtic where we won 2-0. Now with the issue of permits he had to be sidelined for the official game which is very difficult for the team and the club."
Senzo Mazingiza, Platinum Stars manager said it is beyond their control.
"We have to wait and give Home Affairs officials enough time to deal with the permit issues without a hassle. We will work with available players until Patrick Kaunda receives his documents."
Maritzburg United commercial manager Younus Kadodia said Khumbulani Banda has done well at the team.
"We hoped that his permit will be sorted out on time before we started the league. Nothing can be done we have to wait," Kadodia said.
Patrick and Peter Mubaiwa are still waiting for their documents at Chippa United.
Ajax Cape Town coach Roger de Sa believes the permit issue will jeopardise his plans for this season.
He has Warriors utility player Milton Ncube whom he hopes will add impetus to his youthful side.
Chippa United chief operations officer Peter Koutrolis said they would have to bid their time for Eric Chipeta's permit.
The Pretoria University duo of Partson Jaure and Denver Mukamba are hopeful that they will receive their permits next week from the Department of Home Affairs and said they are sad to miss their debut league games.
Mamelodi Sundowns are likely to be without Kudakwashe Mahachi.
Also affected are Kaizer Chiefs who will be without Ovidy Karuru.
