Norman Mapeza at FC Platinum

FC PLATINUM have appointed former Warriors coach Norman Mapeza as their new head coach following the resignation of Lloyd Mutasa last week.
The former Warriors coach ended a lengthy period on the sidelines after signing a one-year contract with the Premier Soccer League club, which comes into effect immediately.
FC Platinum confirmed the developments in a statement yesterday.
"FC Platinum Football Club has appointed with immediate effect Norman Mapeza as its head coach following the departure of Mutasa, who left the club on Thursday August 7 2014," part of the statement read.
"The FC Platinum club executive and management is appealing to its fans and stakeholders to support the new coach as he settles down in Zvishavane and seeks to guide the club to glory and success in both the Premier League and various cup competitions.
"Mapeza's inaugural game is at Mandava Stadium in the Chibuku Super Cup against Bantu Rovers on Saturday August 16 2014."
The club's president George Mawere said he believes Mapeza was the right man to fill the void left by Mutasa given his wealth of experience.
"Mapeza joins the coaching department not because of any other motive, but rather a mutual interest to work with the club structures to deepen professionalism and model the team into a competitive outfit," Mawere said.
"He is a goal-driven individual with experience at European, African and national team levels.
"He has played in Poland, Turkey and South Africa and coached Caps United and Monomotapa during the year they won the Premier League championship."
Mapeza has been given the autonomy to choose the assistant coaches he desires and is likely to bring Lloyd Chitembwe and Nkululeko Dhlamini to Zvishavane.
"He will choose the assistant coaches he wants to work with. At the moment we are not yet aware of his preferred assistants," the club's media liaison officer Chido Chizondo said.
