Zim sports commission begs for money

THE financial crippled Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) has appealed to the corporate world to assist the commission with funds to prepare for the African Union Sports Council Region V Youth Games to be held in Bulawayo on December 4 to 15.

SRC corporate communications officer Tirivashe Nheweyembwa yesterday said the body has been facing financial challenges to prepare for the games.

"We have been facing challenges in terms of resources and we are appealing to the corporate world to assist us with these resources to help prepare for the games," he was quoted by Southern Eye today.

The government made funds available for the teams to prepare for the youth games, but Nheweyembwa said there is equipment that the athletes needed and hoped to get bail out from corporate.

Zimbabwe has already submitted participants for the Youth Games to beat the deadline which had been set for August 31.
