NEWLY promoted PSL side Tsholotsho FC are pushing to play top-flight league home games at the Mbute ground next season.

Based in a rural set-up, Mbute is a substandard facility that needs a complete overhaul in rehabilitation work to meet PSL standards.

There had been rumours that Bulawayo's Luveve or White City stadiums would be their home but club chairman Mlamuli Phiri said they want to stick to the venue they gained PSL promotion from.

"We are not moving to Bulawayo. Plans are on course to renovate our home ground so that it meets PSL standards," Phiri said.

We would also want to rename Mbute and we are still deliberating on the new name.

"We might also leave it to the community to give the stadium a new name of their choice.

"On renovating it, there is a lot of work to be done and we have engaged certain stakeholders in the district to help us in that regard."

It would be Tsholotsho's first time to play in the top-flight league.

"Celebrations are very high and ongoing in Tsholotsho. People still do not believe we have qualified into the PSL. Our achievement is still the talk of the district.

"When we formed this team some people thought we were joking but look at where we are right now," Phiri said.

He said they would want to use football to develop the Tsholotsho district.
