HARARE giants Dynamos have lined up ambitious plans to open sports shops across the country as part of their strategic plan to improve revenue inflows to help them plan for big projects such as the CAF Champions League.

Club chairman Kenny Mubaiwa yesterday said the club was hurt by the decision to withdraw from next year's continental football showcase due to the unavailability of funds.

Dembare, however, are looking to exploit their brand to help drive their commercial arm, which has not been able to operate to full capacity in their 50 years of existence.

"As a club, we feel very hurt that we couldn't participate in the Champions League. Maybe, we could have made contributions as a family, including our supporters, but that was not possible considering the environment and the little time frame that we had to do that.

"But it's something that should not happen again.

"We have already started looking for sponsorship for the next campaign. As a club we are also looking at other avenues to raise funds and there are a number of commercial activities in place.

"We are going to open a sports shop in Harare by February next year. This is where our supporters will be able to access all the club's original merchandise, including replica jerseys, and general sportswear without hassles.

"We will see how this shop will perform and then look if we can expand to other areas. We are also looking at venturing into insurance and brokering, all under one roof. We have identified potential companies that we can work with in that area."

DeMbare are confident they will be able to return to the Africa safari in 2016.

But they will have to do without Pasuwa and his technical team, which included Phillimon Mutyakureva, Richard Chihoro and Tichaona Diya, whose contracts expire on December 31.

"According to our contract with Pasuwa, the entire technical team will cease to be Dynamos employees on December 31 when his tenure expires.

"As you are aware, he has indicated that he will not renew it. So we handed these guys letters to that effect on Monday. They are going to get everything they are entitled to up to December 31. We want to thank them for their wonderful services to the club," said Mubaiwa.

Secretary-general Webster Chikengezha said Dembare were heavily disadvantaged in the continental competitions by the domestic calendar which runs from March to November, unlike in most parts of the world where football is played between August and May.
