Knowledge Musona nears Europe deal

Knowledge Musona's agent Mike Makaab has insisted that the forward's chances of signing for a European club are "exceptionally high".

Makaab last week told South African media that Musona "could" sign for a Belgian or Dutch club.

But he authoritatively told Standardsport on Friday that there is no way the striker would return to South Africa.

Makaab's statements could ring a death knell to Kaizer Chief's pursuit of the 24-year-old.

The 24-year-old is currently training with TSG Hoffenheim reserves after the German Bundesliga side made it clear he is not in their plans.

Following the expiry of his season-long loan stint at Chiefs in June, Musona was set to return to Hoffenheim where his contract runs until June 2016. But the Germans have opened offers for the striker whom they condemned to the reserve side after little hopes of breaking into the first team.

"We are busy negotiating with a few clubs in Belgium and Netherlands. It is not ethical for me at the moment to reveal the names of the clubs because they have requested me to be silent on it," said Makaab.

"Chances are exceptionally high that he will remain in Europe. There is no way he is coming back to South Africa. That is what he wants.

He is a very talented player and wants to start a new chapter in his career. Chances are 50-50 that he will go to either Netherlands or Belgium. But hopefully something will come up next week (this week).

It is believed Makaab has resumed discussions with FC Twente after a move to Dutch Eredivisie hit a snag on the European transfer window deadline day in September.

Another Eredivisie club NAC Breda expressed interest in him last year but he reportedly snubbed them for Chiefs.

Belgian publication Het Laatste Nieuws in September reported that Racing Genk were interested in him as possible replacement for Jelle Vossen who switched to English Championship club Middlesbrough on loan.

Musona also trained with Granada reserves in August.
