Joey Antipas, the Warriors' assistant coach has expressed confidence yesterday that his team will be able to upstage Zambia in an international friendly at Rufaro Stadium, Harare on (Today) Wednesday, ZBC News reported on Tuesday.
"We want to win this match, that is the main aim. We are fully prepared and the team is as hungry as ever," said Antipas.
European based players, Ovidy Karuru and Quincy Antipas were part of proceedings, with Sudan based striker Edward Sadomba keen to assert himself as the Warriors number 1 striker given the absence of Knowledge Musona and Mamelodi Sundowns forward Nyasha Mushekwi.
Musona is yet to settle at his new German club while Mushekwi is suspended for Zimbabwe's encounter with Liberia in September after accumulating two yellow cards.
South African based players, Tinashe Nengomasha, Method Mwanjali, Tapuwa Kapini, Kharma Billiart, Willard Katsande and Simbarashe Sithole as well as local players, Daniel Vheremu, Benjamin Marere, Washington Arubi, and Charles Sibanda are all seeking to impress head coach, Norman Mapeza.
Zimbabwe and Zambia lastly met in the COSAFA Senior challenge final in 2009, in a match the Warriors won 2-nil.
Zimbabwe go into Wednesday's encounter in high spirits after upsetting Mali 2-1 in an AFCON 2012 qualifier in June.
