ZIFA are on the verge of sealing a deal that will bring back Charles Mhlauri to the Warriors fold amid revelations that the association's top brass agreed at their indaba on Wednesday to pull out all the stops in hiring the former CAPS United mentor.
It has emerged that Zifa president Cuthbert Dube and his two deputies Ndumiso Gumede and Kenny Marange consulted and agreed on Tuesday that they had to move with speed to finalise the bid to re-engage Mhlauri for his second dance with the Warriors.
Dube in particular has been steadfast in pressing for a local coach to take charge of the Warriors with the Zifa president maintaining that it is imperative for his leadership to also empower Zimbabwean coaches who he also believes will work with greater passion for the success of their country.
Our correspondent has it on good authority that Zifa are now finalising on a deal that should see Mhlauri flying back home at the end of this month with the coach also having given the association the green light to negotiate some technicalities related to the contract with his Harare-based attorneys.
The two-time championship winning coach has also not hidden his desire to have another dance with the Warriors and help his country in its bid to qualify for only their third Nations Cup campaign.
