Mushekwi continues to shine

The lanky striker was deemed surplus to requirements by coach Pitso Mosimane at the beginning of the 2014/15 PSL season as he was still recovering from a knee injury
Zimbabwe striker Nyasha Mushekwi's impressive start to life in the Swedish top-flight continued on Wednesday, with his second-half brace helping Djurgarden to a 3-1 win over Falkenberg.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns front-man has now scored five goals in six matches, a stunning return from a player who spent the first half of the South African season on the fringes after being deemed surplus to requirements at the Tshwane giants.
Mushekwi joined Djurgarden on a six-month loan deal in April and needed little time to endear himself to his new paymasters, scoring in his second appearance to earn his side a 1-1 draw at Hackem.
He has played in each of his side's last six matches of the campaign so far, starting four. Wednesday's win lifted Djurgarden to 7th on the Allsvenskan log with 10 points.
They are in fine form, having won their last three matches with Mushekwi netting four times.
The 27-year-old Mushekwi will hope he has done enough to earn a recall to the Zimbabwean national team for the upcoming Afcon 2017 qualifiers.
Mushekwi's spell in Belgium with KV Oostende last year was disrupted by a serious knee injury. He returned to his parent club, Sundowns, only to learn that there was no place for him in the team.
He grabbed the Swedish opportunity with both hands when it came - impressing during a trial stint and making no secret of his determination to earn a permanent move to Europe.
"I don't not decide myself, but I would love to stay here, it is my desire. I will do my best to make it so," he told FotbollDirekt upon securing his loan move last month.
Djurgarden last won the league title back in 2005. They have largely remained a mid-table outfit since then.
