A journalist and political commentator Methuseli Moyo has said the purported construction of the Tsholotsho stadium will hardly be done now until the team gets relegated due to obvious economic failure that the Zanu PF government is operating in.

He challenged the government to built the bigger stadium in Lupane the Matabeleland North Provincial capital where the same stadium will be the host of various provincial events which are of national pespective such as the independence, heroes an so on.

"AT this rate, Tsholotsho Football Club will be relegated by the time the stadium is completed," said Moyo.

"Why not build the stadium in Lupane, the provincial capital, where it will host among other functions, Independence Day, Heroes Day, Defence Forces, provincial sports events, and the ever-exciting galas? Again, Lupane is on the highway between Bulawayo and Vic Falls, and could be linked-up with Harare once the Nkayi to Lupane stretch of the road is tarred."

Moyo said this will make the venue convenient for premier soccer league teams from the region, and even national teams to play their games there since the venue would be on the highway.

"Even Tsholotsho FC can relocate to Lupane and host their games there," he said.

"My view is that when planning and implementing development projects, we should look at the overall situation of our province Matabeleland North, than individual needs of districts. I know I could be crucified for this but it is my view, and I will share it freely. My view is that the stadium will serve more purpose if it were at the provincial capital. Even Lupane State University could utilise the venue for their posting activities. Killing many birds with a single stone. What is your view?"

Mzwandile Ndlovu said what Moyo was saying did make sense but the problem was that they have already started construction in Tsholotsho.

Sihlangu Dlodlo said a stadium in Lupane is a good any day but not at the expense of anyone else.

"You make it sound like Tsholotsho is taking national resourses that it does not deserve and the fact that the team is losing there is no need for a stadium in that part of the country," he said.

But Promise Gumbo differed with them saying If a stadium needs to be built in Lupane let it be built there for reasons that don't start off by any linkage to the Tsholotsho FC predicament.

The construction of the Tsholotsho stadium was mooted after the Tsholotsho FC qualified to the Premier soccer league and the construction works are already under way.
