Burnely defender turns down Zimbabwe Warriors call

Tendayi Darikwa the Burnely defender has turned down Warriors coach Kalisto Pasuwa's call for the highly-rated player to join the Zimbabwe senior national team for their Africa Cup of Nations assignment against Guinea next week.

Darikwa has for a long time been battling with the idea of either committing to Zimbabwe or waiting for a chance to play for England.

He was born in the UK to Zimbabwean parents.

But the snub has signalled that he might have made up his mind to play for the Three Lions instead of the Warriors.

A Zifa official said the player had communicated to the mother body that he is unavailable for the national team, even though he has a clean bill of health and is expected to feature for his club this weekend.
