Caps United legend Lloyd Chitembwe has bounced back as interim head coach of the Green Machine until end of the year.
This follows a reshuffle meeting held on Tuesday that also relegated Mark Mathe to the assistant coach position.
An unconvincing string of results that yielded 10 points in eight matches left the Caps United board convinced Mathe is a man not in need of assistance but in need of a hand that can lead him.
Sunday's 2-1 loss to Chapungu which became his second defeat worsened matters prompting an urgent meeting where the board decided to demote him and rope in the trusted son of Caps United, Chitembwe.
"We believe in continuity and that is why we want to have our coach Mark Mathe being assisted by Chitembwe in the remaining 9 games," said Caps board chairman Lewis Uriri.
"It feels good to be back and I believe we will work together for the good of the team," Chitembwe said.
"Chitembwe is actually my senior and I am more than happy to work under him because our chatting together shows that he has an understanding and appreciation of my coaching styles," said Mathe.
Chitembwe is not new to the Caps United technical bench having been a coach in 2010 and being assistant to Sean Conner in 2012.
The Caps United board led by president Farai Jere has put their trust on Chitembwe whose immediate task is to restore the club to glory days.
