ZIFA's headquarters at 53 Livingstone Avenue in Harare is set to be auctioned next week over a debt owed to LED Travel and Tours (Pvt) Ltd.
According to a newspaper advert by Southbay Real Estate, duly instructed by the Sheriff of the High Court of Zimbabwe, the property is set to be sold by public auction on Friday 23 October 2015 at Raylton Club.
The headquarters consists of a single story brick under asbestos townhouse, comprising a reception area, 10 offices, 2 toilets and two store rooms.
The outbuildings consist of five offices, kitchen and toilet and the property is walled and gated.
LED Travel and Tours is owned by former ZIFA Board Member - Finance and Businessman, Bernard Gwarada who had a fall out with the recently ousted ZIFA President Cuthbert Dube.
Gwarada, through his company, filed a High Court application seeking a provisional order for the payment of US$90306.
In 2013, LED borrowed the money from two banks on behalf of the football association to finance the Warriors' FIFA 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign.
The loans were to cover the cost of the air tickets, with the ZIFA Trust underwriting the transaction and the Chairman of the trust, Tshinga Dube, providing the security.
But the ZIFA Trust has not been functioning since the Warriors completed the disastrous 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign.
A copy of an acknowledgement of debt attached to the High Court application showed that ZIFA was supposed to start repaying the money by the end of January this year.
The acknowledgement of debt dated December 15, 2014, was addressed to Gwarada by ZIFA CEO, Jonathan Mashingaidze.
