Eric Knight turns down calls to be ZIFA Chairman

Former Zimbabwe Broadcasting corporation presenter Eric Knight the general has turned down calls by some Zimbabweans that he should come back home to take up position of being a Zimbabwe Football Association Chairman after the former chairman Cathbert Dube was booted out of the soccer governing board.
Knight posted on Facebook that for some reason over the past few weeks he have been getting a lot of messages from people and other sectors of the media suggesting that he go for the position of ZIFA (Zimbabwe Football Association) Chairman.
"I appreciate those who somehow think I could do it but I regret to say that is not going to happen, at least for now. I personally believe that the country has more important issues to attend to than football. It is the same as asking me to go into a house and fix a globe while the whole house is on fire," he said.
"The priority is issues that will change people's lives, bread and butter issues, not a game of football. While I agree that football administration in my country is in shambles, I think that problem is an off-shoot of the problem of mis-governance at national level. Remember ZIFA is just a subsidiary of the Ministry of Sports which in turn is a government arm. Lets start at the top then the rest will fall into place. So for now, in short I have bigger fish to fry. God bless Zimbabwe! God bless Africa!"
