Reports in Sweden are suggesting that Newcastle United are interested in Zimbabwean international forward Matthew Rusike.
The 25-year-old talent previously played in the academy at Charlton Athletic before returning to Zimbabwe in 2009. He then started his career in South Africa - playing for Jomo Cosmos and Kaizer Chiefs.
He signed for Portuguese side Nacional at the start of July but just 20 days later he joined Swedish outfit Halmstads scoring five goals in 12 games for the club.
His performances, according to the Expressen, have caught the eye of Newcastle this season and they are considering a move for the player.
Speaking about the interest, Rusike himself sounded happy:
"I'm sure that many teams have looked, and many see when the national team plays. I hope it resolves itself."
The same report states that Rusike is available on a free transfer after Halmstads played their final game of the season in the Allsvenskan last night.
They were relegated from the Swedish top-flight and with that in mind have allowed Rusike to break from his contract.
The pacy attacker can play through the middle or out wide and would be an interesting gamble from Newcastle United.
At 25 he is already quite an experienced performer so it would not be likely for much more improvement from the player.
But it would be interesting to see how this player performs in English football.
