FC PLATINUM have suspended midfielder Mthulisi Maphosa pending reports that police are keen to interview the midfielder over allegations of stabbing a man in Bulawayo on Sunday.
The former Monomotapa skipper is alleged to have stabbed Isaac Mazambane in the stomach in an ugly incident in Mpopoma near a beerhall.
Yesterday, FC Platinum chairman Tadson Zhou revealed that the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League pacesetters have suspended the former Warriors midfielder who also featured for Congolese giants TP Mazembe.
Maphosa's suspension is indefinite.
Zhou said the Premiership moneybags did not condone any behaviour that put the name of the club into disrepute.
"We do not condone such behaviour from a player of Maphosa's stature who at one stage donned the national team colours.
"The named player has since been indefinitely suspended from all FC Platinum activities pending further investigations.
"Disciplinary action will then be subsequently taken by the club and appropriate action will also be taken," said Zhou in a statement.
Zhou said the club does not encourage untoward behaviour from any of their members.
"FC Platinum is a registered PSL football club that is governed by a code of conduct.
"We abide to our ethics that strive to uphold discipline as one of our core objectives," said Zhou.
The suspension means Maphosa will miss his club's trip to Harare where they face Gunners at Lafarge.
