HIGHLANDERS' Zambian goalkeeper Sitali Nyambwe is set to join newly promoted Castle Lager Premier Soccer League outfit Border Strikers.
Nyambwe penned a one-year contract with Highlanders, but the Bulawayo giants could not register him for the 2016 season.
Addressing the club's weekly press conference, chief executive officer Ndumiso Gumede said Border Strikers had formally written to them requesting the services of the talented, but seemingly controversial goalkeeper.
Gumede said the length of Nyambwe's stay at Border Strikers will depend on the Beitbridge-based side.
"We've a letter from Border Strikers requesting the services of our Zambian goalkeeper Nyambwe. They (Border Strikers) said they want to do things the right way and sought a clearance from us. We will be writing back informing them that he is indeed our player, but I don't think there's anything stopping the player from joining them," said Gumede.
He hinted that Highlanders could just ask Border Strikers to reimburse them expenses incurred by the club while Nyambwe was on trials.
"His stay there will depend on what Border Strikers say. If, for instance, they want him on a permanent basis, then we might have to ask for a little bit higher token," Gumede said.
Nyambwe put on a decent performance in the Bulawayo Football Festival final against Bulawayo City, which Bosso prevailed 1-0 courtesy of a classy goal by youngster Prince Dube, who was plucked from rural Somvubu Secondary School in Matabeleland North by the team's then coach Bongani Mafu.
Meanwhile, Highlanders will play a friendly against Zifa Southern Region Division One side Bulawayo Chiefs at Raylton Sports Grounds tomorrow afternoon to fine tune the team ahead of PSL kick-off next weekend.
Highlanders travel to Hwange for their opening game of the 2016 campaign at the Colliery Stadium on April 2.
