Harare City 4 - 1 Mutare City
HARARE City coach Taurai Mangwiro is a relieved man after his charges responded to their opening day defeat by thumping newboys Mutare City Rovers at Rufaro yesterday.
William Manondo, Raphael Manuvire, James Jam and teenager Jerry Chipangura scored the goals that propelled the Sunshine Boys to their first win of the 2016 season. "We are happy to register the win, a good win with good goals too," said Mangwiro
Midfielder Manuvire played a key role to put them 2-0 up at half-time, his freekick was headed in by Manondo in the 29th minute before he came back to haunt the visitors with a fine finish five minutes later.
Manondo could have put his name on the score sheet again just before the half-time break but his shot from inside the box was parried over the bar by goalkeeper Mark Makuyana.
Manondo then turned provider in the 56th minute when he beat his marker on the right and sent in a low cross that proved difficult for the goalkeeper before midfielder Jam ghosted in to add to Harare City's tally.
The visitors pulled one back three minutes later through Kudakwashe Gurure but teenage forward Chipangura ensured a comprehensive win for the hosts when he added a fourth on the board with six minutes of regulation time remaining.
