Caps United taunts misfiring Dembare

CAPS United coach Lloyd Chitembwe appeared to taunt bitter rivals Dynamos' poor start to the season yesterday in the first shots fired ahead of the Harare Derby next weekend. Chitembwe, who is usually diplomatic, told journalists he was happy with the way his Green Machine have got their campaign underway considering there were some clubs who are yet to win, let alone score a goal, in the Castle Lager Premiership.
That jab appeared directed at old rivals DeMbare. The Glamour Boys, Border Strikers and Hwange are the only teams that are yet to open their scoring account in 180 minutes of league action.
DeMbare have played two Independence Cup matches and failed to score in both games. Speaking at the club's weekly press briefing, Chitembwe joked about their rivals' woes when he was asked whether he was happy with the way his club has opened their league campaign.
The two giants meet in the Harare Derby next weekend. "We're happy. We're happy because there are other teams that have even failed to score a goal and we've four pints and four goals, we've every reason to be happy," said Chitembwe.
Chitembwe also spoke about the ugly events in their camp following the arrest of their skipper Method Mwanjali and midfielder Archford Gutu. Mwanjali is being charged with attempted murder.
"It's not at all difficult (keeping the players' focused) because we're talking of professional players, people who understand what it means to be football players," said Chitembwe. "All these guys earn a living from football and they know how to react to such kind of situations.
"We expected them to be very disappointed with what happened first day or second day but thereafter they've been concentrating on what they're supposed to do and that's training hard and trying to get a result."
Vice-captain Stephen Makatuka said it is was sad ordeal that his teammates were going through a tough time but life has to go on for the club.
"It's painful. It's sad but at the end of day we're professionals and we earn a living through football so life goes on, so we've to keep on working hard so that when they return we would've pushed (collecting points) and they'll take over from there," said Makatuka.
Chitembwe believes the weekend's outing will be a difficult one but they are ready for the game. He has been buoyed by the return of his veteran forward Leonard Tsipa who has recovered from injury and would be in action for the first time in the league this season.
CAPS United midfielder Tafadzwa Rusike, who was injured in Ngezi, has also recovered and is back in the team's fold. "All the teams that are in the league are very difficult teams to play against and Harare City are no exception," said Chitembwe. "So, obviously, it won't be any easy game, it'll be a very difficult game of football to play.
"But I think we've done enough in as far as preparing to get a result that's according to us would be favourable. "When I talk of a favourable result obviously I'm talking of a result, that we expect to win so I think we're ready for the match."
