NEW Chicken Inn coach Rahman Gumbo has settled for Zifa Southern Region Division One side Bulawayo Chiefs' coach Thulani Sibanda as his assistant.
Gumbo was on Wednesday unveiled as the man to replace Joey Antipas when he moves to Amazulu in the South African Premiership at the end of June and will assume full control of the champions next week.
Chicken Inn secretary-general Tavengwa Hara confirmed Sibanda's appointment.
"The coach (Gumbo) recommended Thulani Sibanda to be his assistant and we are happy to announce that we've finalised everything with him so that there is a smooth transition," said Hara.
Sibanda has won two Southern Region Division One League titles with Quelaton in 2011 and Bulawayo Chiefs in 2014.
Sibanda is a holder of the Scottish C coaching licence.
He will lead the ambitious First Division club for the last time tomorrow away to Victoria Falls Tigers in Chinotimba.
Chiefs are second on the table with 13 points from five games, two behind leaders Amagagasi of Victoria Falls and Sibanda would be aiming to part ways with the championship favourites on a winning note.
Former Highlanders' defender Anzilom Ndlovu is likely to be elevated to the Chiefs' hot seat. He is presently Sibanda's assistant.
Chiefs have a number of experienced players in their squad that can withstand the rigours of Division One football.
Former Monomotapa and ZRP FC attacking midfielder Joseph Mutambiranwa, former Highlanders and Caps United forward Thabani Moyo, ex-Motor Action striker Kundishora Chakanyuka, Ashton Mhlanga, formerly with Railstars and ZRP FC, and young midfielder Mengezi Dube are expected to lead Chiefs' ambitious campaign.
They will slug it out with pacesetters Amagagasi, Bantu Rovers and perennial campaigners ZPC Hwange.
Amagagasi are at home to ZRP Hwange on Sunday and will be eager to maintain their unbeaten run.
Amagagasi, Chiefs and ZPC Hwange are the only unbeaten teams in the league at the moment after five games.
ZPC Hwange will be at home to Hwange Juniors tomorrow, while Bantu Rovers take on Technosphere in the coalmining town.
Fixtures
Tomorrow: Technosphere v Bantu Rovers (Hwange), Black Boots v Talen Vision (Fairbridge), ZPC Hwange v Hwange Juniors (Hwange), Bosso 90 v Casmyn (White City), Ntabazinduna v ZRP Bulawayo Province (Ntabazinduna), Victoria Falls Tigers v Bulawayo Chiefs (Victoria Falls)
Sunday: Amagagasi v ZRP Hwange (Victoria Falls)
