Bosso head for Mhondoro growth point

BULAWAYO giants Highlanders invade Mhondoro growth point in Mashonaland West province for a league duel with league debutants Ngezi Platinum at Baobab Stadium this afternoon looking for a maiden second straight win this season. Bosso have so far failed to pick maximum points in successive matches so far this season, despite managing to score in all the matches they have played, one of only two clubs that have achieved that feat, the other being Caps United.

The trend seemed to worry leading marksman Knox Mutizwa who last week said they need to start winning back to back matches. Ngezi Platinum are still on cloud nine after their maiden league win last week over Tsholotsho who they beat 2-0 at White City Stadium and would fancy their chances of slaying their more illustrious opponents this afternoon.

On paper a Bosso defeat looks highly impossible but in football anything is possible especially if Erol Akbay's boys allow complacency to come into their heads. Highlanders will welcome back workaholic left winger Bruce Kangwa who was missed in last week's 1-0 win over Chapungu.

"Bruce had full training this week and I'm sure he'll play on Saturday (today) but as for King Nadolo (who picked up a knock last week), he too has been training but I think I'll have him on the bench," said coach Akbay.

The Bulawayo giants will almost certainly start with the same squad, save for Nadolo, that did duty against Chapungu with leading Castle Lager Premiership goalscorer Mutizwa and young Prince Dube set to lead the Bosso attack.

The South Africa-bound Mutizwa has scored four goals so far in five matches, his fourth coming last week, silencing critics who had been claiming he was now putting a below par performance because of his imminent move across the Limpopo.

Holding midfielder Simon Munawa will once again dictate the pace in that area although he needs to stick to the fundamentals of being an anchorman, especially that he knows his lack of pace after going forward to attack.

Rahman Kutsanzira who was at his best last week on the right wing of the midfield will be expected to once again torment whoever will be tasked with marking him. Unheralded but clearly a talented and promising right back Benson Phiri, so steady as a veteran who never attacks or tackles an opponent unless sure of success will be one of the four men Bosso defence that has Honest Moyo on the left, Tendai Ndlovu and skipper Felix Chindungwe operating as twin centre backs.

Chindungwe though must be told to be exemplary on the field of play after he earned himself an unnecessary yellow card last week for kicking the ball away after the referee had blown his whistle against him.

"Its good the referee gave him a yellow card, that was stupid," Akbay said about the incident last week.
