Mighty Warriors went down to Banyana Banyana by one goal to nil in an international women's friendly game on Sunday.
South Africa started the game well and gained momentum as the first half wore on but couldn't quite manufacture a real chance.
Some unconvincing defending from the hosts gave Zimbabwe a chance to shoot in the 25th minute but the attempt went wide.
South Africa had two great openings around the 35-minute mark as Mollo and Matlhalo threatened to take the lead for the hosts, but Zimbabwe defended well to keep it goalless.
The sides went into the break at 0-0. Mollo then seemed to net the opener 10 minutes after the restart, but she was adjudged to have been offside.
A long-range effort from Nyandeni tested the Zimbabwe goalkeeper just shy of the hour mark but the shotstopper parried it behind.
In the 61st minute the home team gave the supporters something to cheer about as Refiloe Jane broke the deadlock with a timely strike for Banyana.
Chances were few and far between towards the end of the clash and the hosts were able to hold on to their slender lead.
