TWO primary schools and four junior league teams will clash in a football tournament, a brainchild of Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday.

According to the organizer of the inaugural tournament which is likely to be an annual event, legendary juniors coach Ali Dube, Mzilikazi and St Patrick's Primary Schools will clash in the Under-14 final while Highlanders, Bantu Rovers, How Mine and Bulawayo City will have their Under-18 sides participating.

"The first match will see Mzilikazi Primary School's girls football team taking on their St Patrick's counterparts and after that the two schools'

Under-14 boys team will take to the field. It's important to note that Mzilikazi Primary School is Vice President Mphoko's former school while umfanami, Zenzo Moyo went to St Patrick's Primary School," said Dube who is now in charge of the Bulawayo City juniors.

He said the two schools will be provided with kits as well as medals, courtesy of VP Mphoko.

"After the two matches, we will then have a draw for the Under-18 teams who will also be provided with playing kits while the winning team will get a trophy as is the norm," said Dube.

He said there will be individual prizes for excelling players who will be selected by a panel of experts.

"There will be the Goalkeeper of the Tournament, the Golden Boot Winner as well as the Player of the Tournament and all these individual accolades will go with trophies," said Dube.

With the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League cancelling league matches, Bulawayo football fans will have something to look forward to on a Sunday where since the promotion of Bulawayo City, they have been used to top flight action.
