BULAWAYO businessman Kenneth Mhlophe on Saturday donated a television set to the Highlanders clubhouse and has promised to give the club a projector for use at the "Bosso Fan Park".
Mhlophe, who lost the vice-chairmanship to Modern Ngwenya in the Bosso elections held in February, said his love for the club had driven him to make the donation.
"I'm not a sore loser and I'm doing this because of the love for my club. I promised to contribute towards making the clubhouse a better place and after seeing that they have a single television set, which isn't enough to cater for numerous matches, I thought I should give the club one," said Mhlophe.
"I've also ordered a projector to be connected to the decoder and this will be done so that patrons can watch matches on a big screen instead of crowding around smaller sets."
The Bosso benefactor, who has also been buying fuel and refreshments for the Highlanders' developmental side that competes in the Southern Region Division One League, could have scored points over Ngwenya through his donation.
Ngwenya had during his campaign said he was going to donate two television sets to the clubhouse within two months of assuming office.
He was voted into the vice-chairmanship on February 7, and four months into his tenure, Ngwenya is yet to deliver.
Mhlophe said he was not competing for attention, but is being "generous" to the club.
"I love Highlanders and this is just a small contribution that I'm making. My hope is that all Highlanders supporters can contribute positively to the club and make it a viable institution. It's my hope that the big screen that's coming in time for the start of the Euro 2016 finals will draw improved patronage to the clubhouse," said Mhlophe.
The businessman, who also sponsors the Southern Region Top Goal Scorer of the Month award through his Nokel Security company, praised the Highlanders Victoria Falls Supporters' Chapter for donating a playing kit to Bosso juniors and the women's side.
