Dembare mourns fans as Caps United calls it a national disaster

Dynamos FC president Kenny Mubaiwa has described the death of his team supporters as a dark day for the club.

Close to 10 Dembare fans from the Harare chapter died on their way to Gweru to watch their team take on Chapungu.

"It is dark day for our club coming at time when we are also struggling as a team on the field of play.

"It is also painful for those that have lost their loved ones.

"We are deeply saddened as the leadership and as the club with the loss of lives and we pray those in hospital recover well," said Mubaiwa.

"We are providing help as a club and in our individual capacity.

"We have been running around assisting along with NFAZ president Philip Chiyangwa for the better part of the day."

City rivals Caps United also mourned the dead fans saying it is a national disaster.

It said in a statement "This is our collective loss. We mourn with you. May their dear souls rest in eternal peace.".

"This is a sad loss, not only for their immediate families, but for the entirety of the Zimbabwe football fraternity.

"This sad loss goes beyond an accident. It is a national disaster".

Caps United said Government through the Ministry of Sport, should accord the deceased State assisted funerals.
