Orlando Pirates chairman Dr. Irvin Khoza addressed the media today with regards to the findings of the investigation into the circumstances surrounding Teko Modise's widely reported absence from camp prior to the club's Premier League match against Santos Football Club on 15 January 2011.
Although the club had grounds to push on with the charges the chairman has decided not to go ahead as it has come to light that the player has agreed to join Mamelodi Sundowns.
Speaking at the press briefing the chairman said: "The main purpose of this press conference was to outline the findings of our investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mr. Modise's absenteeism. However late last night, the club received an offer from Mamelodi Sundowns and subsequently the player has requested permission to enter into talks with Sundowns.
"The club has decided not to stand in Mr. Modise's way and thus have allowed the player to negotiate terms with Sundowns. In light of this revelation Orlando Pirates will no longer press charges...as of today Mr. Modise is no longer a Pirates player…we wish him the best in his future endeavors."
