Advantage Caps United as FC Platinum titles hopes suffer huge blow

Mutare City gave their chances of survival a glimmer of hope after overcoming Border Strikers 2 nil on a day FC Platinum spurned a glorious opportunity of gaining ground on their title rivals.

Mutare City are still in with a chance of launching a dramatic survival after registering a vital two nil home win against Border Strikers at Sakubva Stadium.

Mutare City Rovers got off to a blistering start after Stephen Sibanda latched onto a flick at the near post before tapping home as early as the first minute.

Border Strikers searched for an instant equaliser but spurned a golden chance a minute later.

Bright Majamanda could have doubled the lead but somehow sent his flashing header wide of the far post.

Chasten Ngondonga, however, made it two nil after 22 minutes thanks to some alertness that saw him capitalising on some sloppy defending from inside the box in a contest that went to half time with Rovers leading two nil.

Border Strikers were given a lifeline of reducing the arrears after a clumsy challenge by Victor Twaliki saw the visitors being awarded a penalty.

Lack of composure, however, saw Border Strikers missing from the spot in a contest that Mutare City Rovers won two nil and kept alive hopes of survival.

Elsewhere FC Platinum's title chance again went off the rails after being held to a one all draw by Ngezi Platinum at Mandava Stadium.  

Chicken Inn made use of home advantage after getting the better of ZPC Kariba two nil as Tsholotsho edged Chapungu by two goals to one.
