Former ZIFA boss Vincent Pamire has criticised the suspension of PSL chairman Peter Dube and the ban on Highlanders chief executive Ndumiso Gumede by the football mother body.
Gumede and Dube are accused of bringing the game of football into disrepute.
As the nation was still trying to come to terms with the challenges being faced by the Mighty Warriors in their preparations for their African expedition, ZIFA on Monday saw a more urgent need to deal with ZIFA honourary member and current Highlanders Chief Executive Office, Ndumiso Gumede together with his chairman at club level Peter Dube even without conducting a hearing for them.
Gumede was charged and found guilty for writing a letter to FIFA development officer, Ashford Mamelodi on the 25th of July 2016, highlighting some concerns within Zimbabwean football.
In the letter, Gumede pointed out areas where he felt the ZIFA constitution was being flouted, lack of accountability in the handling of funds and the arbitrary dismissal of employees among other concerns.
Dube on the other hand, stood accused of allegedly inciting Premier Soccer League clubs' representatives to a ZIFA assembly to denounce the decision to relegate four teams at the end of the season as a resolution to relegate only two was still standing.
Many football fans took to the social media to express their anger, with others calling for the premiership clubs to break away from ZIFA as it had failed to develop the sport.
Former ZIFA boss Pamire has also added his voice on the need for ZIFA to make sound football decisions.
The biggest victims as a result of the move by ZIFA is Highlanders Football Club as they have to finish the crucial last two games without a chairman and CEO.
Questions have been asked as to the timing of the decision as there are two crucial games to go before the championship race ends with Highlanders still in the running.
Efforts to get comments from Gumede, Dube as well as ZIFA leadership were fruitless.
