'Chiyangwa plotting to destroy Highlanders'

Zifa president Philip Chiyangwa is bent o destroying Highlanders, the oldest club on the country, banned Bosso Chief Executive officer Ndumiso Gumede has said.

Highlanders is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year.

In a shock move, Gumede was banned from all forms football this week by Chiyangwa accusing him of penning a letter peddling falsehoods to Fifa in an attempt to unseat the constitutionally elected football leadership in the country.

"This is nothing short of a plot to destroy Highlanders, there is no way Zifa can suspend the chairman of the club (Peter Dube) and the CEO with the season almost coming to an end hope that things will go well.

"I was not seconded to Highlanders by Zifa. I was not employed by Zifa. My principals (Highlanders) have not received any communication effecting a suspension. In any case, I am one-and-a-half years from retirement and I am not panicking at all" he said.

He added " Highlanders has suffered so many setbacks in the past, I am almost certain that the club will ride the storm and not only survive but come back stronger".
