The 2016 Premier Soccer League (PSL) champions will be crowned on the final round of matches after Caps United and FC Platinum won in their crucial assignments today, with the later hammering Highlanders 3-nil at Mandava Stadium to ensure a two-horse race to the coveted crown.
Caps United beat Ngezi Platinum Stars 1-nil to maintain a 2-point lead on FC Platinum with a one match to go before the premiership curtain comes down.
Simba Nhivi scored in the first half and the Green Machine held on to claim maximum points against a Ngezi side that felt hard done by the referee who denied them a penalty late in the second half after a Caps United player handled in the box.
It was however at Mandava, where the massacre of the day was recorded.
FC Platinum humiliated Highlanders and put them out of the premiership title race, with an emphatic 3-nil scoreline.

Caps United now play Chapungu away to Ascot Stadium in Gweru, while FC Platinum play Tsholotsho FC at Barbourfields Stadium in the last round of matches that will determine the destiny of the premiership title.
