Tablet users were more engaged in video watching than desktop users, according to Ooyala, a video service provider in the US.
The result was shown last week in the company's quarterly report, which said the average video-viewing session on tablets was 28 percent longer than that on desktops.
Video completion rates on tablets were also 30 percent higher than non-tablet mobile devices, the report said.
While desktops and laptops still dominate the market for online video viewing, tablet and mobile users are more inclined to watch long-form videos, videos over 10 minutes long, and users of desktops or laptops tend to watch short clips.
As expected, the iPad was the most popular tablet for viewing online videos during the third quarter of this year, accounting for 97.7 percent of total play time.
