TAIWANESE MOBILE PHONE MAKER HTC still isn't bringing out a Facebook phone, but in the future HTC handset owners won't be able to avoid the social network.
HTC will release a smartphone with deep Facebook integration and a dedicated button that takes you straight to Facebook, according to the Financial Times. Whether this will be an actual physical button or one you find on the touchscreen wasn't mentioned.
More Facebook integration is not a great surprise. Whether or not you like Facebook, the demand to access the social notworking website is there. HTC's new smartphones will also feature Facebook video and photo alerts, along with home screens that update with real-time status messages.
It also will mean that you will only have to sign in once, so you won't have to keep sticking your password in if you are browsing websites that offer Facebook connectivity. The Facebook app is already extremely popular on Android, and with the HTC devices you won't be able to avoid it, as it will be linked to the menu and other features.
We will likely see this HTC phone at next week's Mobile World Congress, together with a phone from INQ that also has a load of Facebook stuff. We probably won't ever see and actual Facebook branded smartphone, but we will soon have Facebook phones out there in everything but name.
