Google has announced that it has with immediate effect suspended business with Huawei that requires the transfer of hardware, software and technical services except those publicly available via open source licensing.
American media reported on Sunday that the blow to the Chinese company was necessitated by Google's desire to implement the U.S. government policy which seeks to have the company blacklisted around the world.
"We are complying with the order and reviewing the implications," a Google spokesperson was quoted saying.
However the Android Twitter account posted that current users will still have access to Google services.
"For Huawei users' questions regarding our steps to comply with the recent US government actions: We assure you while we are complying with all US government requirements, services like Google Play and security from Google Play Protect will keep functioning on your existing Huawei device."
America on Thursday added Huawei Technologies Co Ltd to a trade blacklist. The company is accused of using its products for spying purposes.
